1.
Yet another foolish attempt at kicking jet planes flying overhead. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, but I can't. Instead, I'm kicking myself again. Lying flat on my back, in open conversation with the sky. Once I feel the blades graze my spine, it's like an owl's deadly talons start clenching my insides. Be brave. But I'm all bent out of shape. Besides, "I wouldn't be I" playing the game straight faced. Just wait. Well, I've been waiting for days. I prayed for absolution, but it never fucking came. I won't ever hit my target holding out for blue moons. I'll hit it if (and only if) I just point and shoot.
2.
A war is a war is a war, and I always come home feeling worse than before. I think I'd rather become a draft dodger than fight for your love and affection any longer. I don't believe somewhere off the beaten path lies a victory. I guess we'll see when (and only when) this battle comes to an end. A plea is a plea is a plea, and I'm desperate, but you're relentless. I think I'd rather play hopscotch with land mines than try to breathe the air you filled with carbon monoxide. I could just get inside my car and turn the engine on; shut the garage, and fill it up with exhaust. Then tap my heels together, while knowing full well, and thinking to myself, "There's no place like hell." But I won't. Take me to see Oz because I need a new heart. I need courage, half a brain, and a home to tear apart. "We'll get there. We'll get there." That's all I ever hear. When I see the Emerald City, I'll know these yellow bricks were sincere. The question's always, "When?" With you, it's always been: "When (and only when)."
